In 1983, two kids in a garage made a zine.
They didn't know it was called a zine. They just folded paper in half at a supermarket copy machine because they had something to say and nowhere to say it. They sold one copy to a woman across the street for fifteen cents. She never asked for a refund.
Kids get sidetracked. Thirty years passed.
In 2022, they finished what they started. Miscreant Issue Zero was a labor of love. It featured aliens debating the meaning of existence, love poems wrapped in hot wax, and heartbreak laid out in hand-lettered typography. It was eclectic, strange, and disarmingly beautiful.
Now I'm turning that garage into something bigger. And I want you in it.
Miscreant Anthology is a collective.
Not my book with your work in it. OUR book. A home for the weird, the wonderful, and the things that don't fit in gatekept, sanitized literary journals. This is true indie art, comics, poetry, stories, and games.
We are building a creative, artistic movement. If you're in the book, you own a piece of the book. We share what we build.
I'm not looking for polished professionals. I'm looking for the ones who've been waiting for a door to open.
This is your door.
If you've got a story on your hard drive that you've never shown anyone.
If you've got a poem in a notebook that feels too weird to share.
If you've got art you've been sitting on because you don't know where it belongs.
If you've never been published and you're convinced that means something is wrong with you.
Nothing is wrong with you. You just haven't found your door yet.
This is your door. Come on in.
Everything.
Love stories. Weird fiction. Funny stuff. Dark stuff. Aliens having existential crises. Romance that feels like a fever dream. Comics. Cartoons. Illustrations. Abstract sketches. B&W photography. One-page games. Essays about things that matter to you. Poetry that feels like a confession.
I don't care about your resume.
I don't care if you've never been published.
I don't care if you've been rejected a hundred times.
I care if it's yours. I care if it matters to you.
If it matters to you, it fits here.
